ADULT LEARN TO SAIL
TACS is not for children only, each season we offer learn to sail sessions to the adults in our community as well. Evening and weekend sessions make this the perfect way to learn to sail! Taught on Lasers and 420’s, each session will meet two times a week for two weeks, the 4 classes will run from 6:00PM to 9:00PM on Monday & Tuesday evenings at the Cornwell Sailing Center located on the North end of the Boardman Lake. Teaches the skills and responsibilities of sailing. Sessions are approximately 3 hours each for two sessions per week, for two weeks.
While Traverse Area Community Sailing has a limited number of life jackets for use, students are encouraged to provide their own for better fit and regular use after the class. We will sail in the rain so clothing appropriate to the weather should be provided. We require closed toe shoes (tennis shoes, boat shoes, crocs, anything that encloses and protect the student feet). Towels, a water bottle, and snacks are often appropriate.
Take it to the next level!
Advance your skills to the next level and learn to sail on 20’-25’ sailboats on West Bay. The Great Lakes Sailing Co. (located on West Bay at the CenterPointe Marina) is offering a two-day course (ASA 101) and an optional full season of sailing for TACS Adult Program grads.
Certified by the American Sailing Association, the two-day course (ASA 101) focuses on anchoring, sail trim, high-wind tactics and docking and harbor handling a vessel with an outboard motor.
